  • Approximately 2 millions population
  • Living under constant threat of forced relocation, forced to move, forced labor
  • Occupations: most are hill cultivators
  • Income: Less than .5$ per day
  • Lack of food security
  • Lack of transportation communication
  • Poor health with very little access to health care and education
  • Between 100,000 and 150,000 school age children in areas operated by members
  • Approximately 500,000 population depend on health services of members
  • Poor education facilities
  • Lack of qualified human resources and inadequate teachers and health workers
  • Lack of international assistance apart from NHEC and its members
  • Health and education standards are far behind the standards of the mainland
